Faber Grabs TBF Championship Lead

Faber Grabs TBF Championship Lead

Table Rock Lake has never been accused of being a boring fishery, or of hosting tediously predictable bass tournaments. As the dust settled following day four of The Bass Federation’s 2017 National Championship, the Rock’s reputation for roller-coaster leaderboard rides and white-knuckle comebacks is as solid as ever. Ty Faber is living proof of the impoundment’s ability to knock you down one day and build you back up the next. Friday, while his rivals faltered, Faber vaulted into first place overall and won his division with a 15-pound, 15-ounce limit that gives him 26-06 headed into Saturday’s shootout. READ MORE »

Boyd Leads TBF Championship

Boyd Leads TBF Championship

After two days of preliminary fishing whittled down the 2017 The Bass Federation National Championship field to 49 boaters and 49 co-anglers – the top from each state and province competing this week – weights were zeroed for the third round of competition held today at Table Rock Lake. The famed Missouri impoundment produced heavy limits, epic comebacks and the promise of even more exciting grassroots bass action to come. Indiana’s Allen Boyd took full advantage of the opportunity and shook off a slow start that saw him 25th overall earlier in the week. Boyd grab the lead today among the boaters with 17 pounds, 14 ounces. The weight was more than 2 pounds heavier than any limit brought in the first two days. READ MORE »

TBF Championship Midday Update Day 2

TBF Championship Midday Update Day 2

Just when anglers held out hope that fishing couldn’t get any tougher on Table Rock Lake after Thursday’s opening round of the 2016 The Bass Federation National Championship, it did – at least in Friday’s morning session. Most likely the weather had something to do with that, because whatever was working for the top anglers on Thursday needed more of the same type of weather in round two. They didn’t get it. In fact, Friday morning’s weather was far removed from Thursday’s in terms of sunshine and warmth. Where the sun played peekaboo with the clouds in the balmy opening round, it was dreary and chilly on day two. READ MORE »

Fingers Crossed at Table Rock

Fingers Crossed at Table Rock

Typically, Table Rock anglers are banging away at big spawning female largemouths by now, but a Twilight Zone sort of spring has got the fish stuck in a time warp. What with water temperatures trapped in the mid- to high 50s, they seem confused about whether they should be bedding or still staging offshore. What’s worse, their reluctance to behave as usual has the 94 anglers gathered here for the 2016 The Bass Federation National Championship just as muddled about where they need to be and what they need to do to win the coveted title.
