All-American Midday Update – Day 2

Perfect afternoon weather should make things interesting at weigh-in

Like day one, day two of the Phoenix Bass Fishing League presented by T-H Marine All-American presented by TINCUP has thrown a variety at the anglers. The day started with rain, which was heavy overnight, and tapered off after takeoff. Then, cloudy and slick conditions set in. Now, it’s turned into a perfect day, with puffy clouds, lots of sun and a nice breeze.

Live leaderboard

Dustin Lippe’s leading pattern

The fishing seems to have been okay today, with some of the top-10 boaters completing limits early and others still scratching away. Like day one, there is a lot of emphasis on the offshore bite down the lake, but it’s not as simple as pulling up at the end of a point. Cole Floyd has struggled thus far, but he’s mostly been hunting in the guts of creeks.

The reason the fishing can’t really qualify as good at the moment is because of how many top boaters are struggling. Dustin Lippe and Chris Macy are both a decent way from a limit, and Wesley Sandifer is in the same boat.

On the good side, Todd Goade is leading the day, and he’s running brush on typical offshore places, just like you’d predict.

Maybe the most interesting player of the day is Jayme Rampey. With “11 pounds” in the ‘well early, Rampey is likely going to make the top 10. Depending on how he upgrades that with the perfect afternoon weather, Rampey could be poised to make some noise.

One thing that will be big for the top 10 is making the afternoon bite happen again. Floyd and Ryan Davidson both took full advantage of the afternoon on day one, and they need to do it again today.

Only the top 10 fish tomorrow, and weigh-in should be a good one. Be sure to tune in at 4 p.m. ET to see how it shakes out.
