There may never have been a better excuse to go fishing than curing childhood cancer. Now, if you participate in the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) All American Fishing Tournament, you can help be a part of funding critical research to do just that.

The All American Fishing Tournament is a one-of-a-kind multi-species nationwide event. It started April 6 and ends Sept. 28. Participants can target 10 species of freshwater and saltwater fish during the tournament, with prizes of $500, $300 and $200 awarded for the three largest catches of each species.

But you don’t even have to catch anything to win. Everyone who registers for the tournament is entered to win a Power-Pole shallow-water anchor, a Hubbard’s Marina 39-hour fishing trip and a Florida Fishing Product’s Reel Package. The angler who logs the most largemouth bass over the course of the tournament will also win a Power-Pole, as will the angler with the most spotted sea trout (limit 10 entries per day per species).

Tournament registration is $25. Results are tracked using the iAngler Tournament app, where catch photos and measurements can be uploaded. Prizes will be awarded during a live-streamed ceremony this fall.
