One of collegiate bass fishing’s biggest annual events is coming up on Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. The 2019 YETI FLW College Fishing Open is scheduled for March 12 and 13, and once again FLW is offering up a major prize pot for this unique event.

The winning team earns a Ranger Z175 with 90-hp outboard valued at about $30,000, and the top 20 teams all earn spots in the 2020 College Fishing National Championship, where the winners qualify for the 2020 FLW Cup.

For the first time, both daily weigh-ins will be broadcast via FLW Live at FLWFishing.com.

Takeoffs are at 7 a.m. CT at Moors Resort on Kentucky Lake, and weigh-ins will be lakeside at Moors at 3 p.m. CT. All teams fish both days of competition.

The entry fee is $75 per two-angler team.

Anyone interested in participating and possibly locking up an early bid to the 2020 championship can visit shop.flwfishing.com or call 270.252.1597.

Top 10 Patterns from Chickamauga

Top 10 Patterns from Chickamauga

Tournament champion Brent Butler ran different patterns nearly every day in the Costa FLW Series Southeastern Division event on Lake Chickamauga last week. The tournament, presented by T-H Marine, wasn’t quite the slugfest many expected it to be, but Butler’s 68-pound, 8-ounce three-day total was still an impressive showing. The rest of the top 10 got on a handful of patterns – some the same all three days and some changing from day to day – but all worked well enough to earn a top 10 and a paycheck. READ MORE »

Crankbaits were the deal on Kentucky Lake during the 2019 YETI FLW College Fishing Open. Like the winning team, many others in the top 10 targeted main-lake points and rock-to-gravel transitions – and pretty much anything that served as a current break. Top 5 Patterns from College Open – Day 1

Blake Jackson and Trevor McKinney of McKendree University edged out 20 other bags over 20 pounds with their 23-pound, 11-ounce stringer on day one of the YETI FLW College Fishing Open. They did it primarily with mid-diving crankbaits on one special current break that held a bunch of smallmouths cycling through the area. That wasn’t necessarily a pattern that dominated for the rest of the top 5, though. Current certainly played its part, but versatility was key on day one. Here’s a look at how the rest of the top 5 teams caught their fish on Tuesday. READ MORE »
