The 2019 FLW Tour Marshal program offers a unique opportunity for fans of professional bass fishing to get involved in the sport and spend time with their favorite pros. The enthusiasm around this opportunity is clear in the results: Today, FLW filled the marshal field for the 2019 FLW Tour opener at Sam Rayburn. All 170 pros will be accompanied by a marshal when competition commences on Jan. 10.

Marshal spots are still open for the remaining FLW Tour events. Learn more at FLWFishing.com/marshals.

Here are some of the details about the marshal program:

  • Marshals will be treated to a VIP cookout and seminar with FLW Tour pros on the Wednesday before each FLW Tour event, plus they’ll get behind-the-scenes access throughout the event.
  • Marshals will also receive exclusive FLW Tour Marshal clothing, including a Realtree Fishing jersey, and play a vital role in live coverage of the tournament by verifying each pro’s catch and relaying information to FLW editors.
  • Marshals are eligible to win as much as $2,500 at every tournament, based on the combined weight of the pros they are paired with. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 Marshals.
  • Marshals will also be entered to win a new Ranger Z518L powered by a 200hp Evinrude E-TEC G2 that will be given away at the end of the season. Marshals will receive one entry in the Ranger boat giveaway for each opening round completed and can also earn bonus entries into the giveaway by marshaling on days three and four of Tour events.
  • The entry fee for marshals is $100 per qualifying tournament and $200 for the FLW Cup.

When to Fish the Flashy Swimmer

When to Fish the Flashy Swimmer

In April, FLW Associate Editor Justin Onslow documented how Gross likes to cut the belly of his two favorite hollow swimbaits – the Scottsboro and the Zoom Swimmer – when rigging on a weedless hook to achieve a high hook-up ratio. However, that article didn’t break down where and why Gross prefers to use the Beast Flashy Swimmer hook versus a standard weighted, weedless swimbait hook. So we reached out to Gross for more info. READ MORE »

Colby, who suffers from a rare autoimmune disorder, got his wish on Wednesday thanks to Martin, Minnesota-based 3M and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Together, they treated Colby’s family to a weeklong vacation, and Martin guided the young angler to a day of fishing for bass and northern pike on Mantrap Lake near Park Rapids, Minn.
