FLW Spain hosted its first Pro Series tournament on June 16-17 at Lake Garcia Sola in Valdecaballeros-Extremadura in the middle of the Iberian Peninsula.
Teams of two fishermen competed together. Most of them were highly skilled and familiar with the tournament venue, which created a highly competitive atmosphere. Temperatures were high, but luckily there was a breeze that offered some relief.
Anglers competed for the dream of qualifying for the Costa FLW Series Championship in the United States. Among the participants was Fabian Rodríguez, an American semi-professional angler and FLW member who was the organization’s guest of honor.
The fish of García Sola are robust and elusive, and active in peaks of activity throughout the day. But in the end the anglers were able to put together impressive catches. The winners were Rubén Tarazona and Luis Vilar, who used finesse techniques, fishing slowly for just a few quality bites. Other baits used were topwaters, crankbaits, soft baits and jigs.
