Twelve fully rigged Ranger bass boats carried 22 high school anglers from Port of Kimberling to compete in the 2016 TBF/FLW Student Angler Federation High School Fishing National Championship on Table Rock Lake. Most were doing their best to hide emotions, but the excitement was evident as they passed by the check-in station.

Held in conjunction with the TBF National Championship, this premier HSF event features prep anglers representing five high school conferences from around the country.

Current conditions will test the anglers’ skills as the bass seem to be stuck in a prespawn funk. The water temperature has been holding in the high 50-degree range for several weeks, keeping the bass from committing to the few spawning beds along the shore. A variety of techniques can be utilized to push these high school anglers into the lead at the 2 p.m. CT weigh-in this afternoon.
