TEMPE, Ariz. – The Fresno State team of Kong Moua and Christopher Delgado both of Fresno, Calif., won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Western Regional Championship Saturday with two bass weighing 3 pounds, 6 ounces. TEMPE, Ariz. — Although Fresno State didn’t come close to duplicating their stellar day-two, 15-pound, 10-ounce catch in the finals, it didn’t really matter. TEMPE, Ariz. — In the end, Chico State saved the best for last. Although teammates Thomas White and Frank Vogt managed to check in on time after pulling their boat out of Saguaro Lake, the Chico State team managed to get lost for over an hour on their way back to the weigh-in stage at Arizona State University. However, when the finally arrived, the team realized that their harrowing day would end on a stellar note as their total catch of 10 pounds, 5 ounces pushed them into the overall lead on the first day of FLW College Fishing Western Regional Championship competition. TEMPE, Ariz. – National Guard FLW College Fishing is headed to Saguaro Lake Nov. 17-19 for the Western Regional Championship hosted by Arizona State University and the Tempe Tourism Office. Twenty college teams will be competing for a top award of $50,000 to be split between the school and bass fishing club; $37,500 for the bass club, which includes $12,500 in cash as well as a Ranger 177TR with a 90-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard wrapped in school colors and $12,500 for their school.
