A tough day on the water might be looking good to angler-turned-`Bachelor’ Byron Velvick right about now. On this week’s episode, the tension among the bachelorettes was so high, it made a difficult day at a tournament look like a day at the beach. With six women remaining, it’s clear that Velvick is getting serious about several of the ladies.
The show started with some one-on-one time for Cheresse and Velvick. An obvious front-runner at the start of the series, 31-year-old Cheresse hasn’t had much of a chance to spend time with Velvick. The two were able to reconnect over a glass of wine, and Velvick was reminded of what had first attracted him to her. “Cheresse has wisdom and maturity,” Velvick said. “She’s grounded; the kind of person I know would make a great life partner.”
Next up, Cindy and Velvick had a chance for a private date. Cindy has said that she’d like Velvick to see her quirky side, and the format of their date was perfect for letting their true colors through. The pair took a limo to a romantic oceanside picnic with a view of the water as far as the eye could see. Their attraction was obvious. California-native Cindy said, “I’ve never had this connection with anyone else, and I think he feels the same way.” Mother Nature even played a role in their date. While watching the waves, Cindy and Velvick got a glimpse of a group of dolphins swimming by. They may not have been bass, but we’re betting Velvick was happy to see some sort of aquatic life.
These weren’t the only dates Velvick went on in this week’s episode; he also had a chance to take out bachelorettes Mary and Jayne. The date with Mary was nearly perfect, according to Velvick. “Tonight, Mary and I shared something that was really special,” the bachelor said. “There were sparks.”
But what happened after Jayne and Velvick’s date had the whole house talking. After a day of horseback riding, Jayne went back to the ladies’ villa. When Cindy made a comment about Jayne’s date with Velvick, the two started an argument that would last all night. Even the other bachelorettes and Velvick got involved in the drama control.
It was apparent that emotions were running high – right up to the Rose Ceremony. Velvick would be giving out only four roses this week, meaning two bachelorettes would be heading home. It was not an easy choice for this bachelor. He spent the time before the ceremony talking with the bachelorettes and trying to keep his emotions in check. “This is one of the hardest decisions to make,” Velvick said.
After much thought, he pared the group down to his favorite four: Cindy, Mary, Tanya and Cheresse. But it doesn’t look like the choices will be getting much easier. Next week he’ll be spending time with the remaining bachelorettes during “fantasy” weekend dates. Viewers will have to tune in to see which bachelorette keeps the sparks going with Velvick.
