Most people probably don’t equate Lake Chickamauga to spinning rods and finesse techniques, but both were prevalent during the FLW Tour event presented by Evinrude on Chick. Plenty of pros threw swimbaits, jigs and crankbaits, but the common thread among most of the top 10 is the use of a stick bait (usually wacky- or Texas-rigged) to target bedding or postspawn fish still hanging in the shallows. Weighing the biggest bag of the final day, John Cox moved from third to first to take the win in the FLW Tour event presented by Evinrude on Lake Chickamauga. Buoyed by two very late kickers, Cox put 21 pounds even on the scale on day four for an 83-9 total. Behind him, Buddy Gross nearly pulled off the comeback win on his home lake, tallying 81-14 on the week. Day one of the FLW Tour event presented by Evinrude on Lake Chickamauga featured a lot of really big bass, but it was consistent quality that won the day. In the lead, John Cox plopped 24 pounds, 11 ounces down at the very end of weigh-in to take over. In second, rookie pro Ron Nelson wrangled 24-6, and four other pros managed 23 pounds or better.
