Morlanne and Landernaeu weigh four for 12-5

The South Forsyth High School duo of Brett Morlanne and Michael Landernaeu, both of Cumming, Georgia, brought four bass to the scale Saturday weighing 12 pounds, 5 ounces to win the 2020 FLW High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing Lake Seminole Open.

A field of 29 teams competed in the no-entry fee tournament, which launched from the Bainbridge Earle May Boat Basin. The tournament was hosted by the Bainbridge Convention and Visitors Bureau. In FLW and TBF High School Fishing competition, the top 10-percent of teams competing advance to the High School Fishing National Championship.

 

The top two teams advanced to the 2020 High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing National Championship:

  1st: South Forsyth High School, Cumming, Ga. – Brett Morlanne and Michael Landernaeu, four bass, 12-5

  2nd: Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge, Ga. – Brock Lewis and Gage Sellars, five bass, 12-2

Rounding out the top 10 were:

  3rd: Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge, Ga. – Caleb Reynolds and Lex Thompson, four bass, 11-8

  4th: Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge, Ga. – Shane Dill and Bowynn Brown, five bass, 9-11

  5th: Double Trouble Bass Team – Brunson Fain, Donalsonville, Ga., and Jackson Conley, Bainbridge, Ga., four bass, 7-13

  6th: Brookwood High School, Snellville, Ga. – Ben Sanders and Levi Singletary, five bass, 7-5

  7th: Brevard High School, Brevard, N.C. – Matthew Case and Andrew Howell, three bass, 7-5

  8th: Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge, Ga. – Gunner Thomas and Brody Thomas, three bass, 6-11

  9th: North South Anglers – Brandon Martin, Lula, Ga., and Parker Guy, Ocilla, Ga., three bass, 5-10

  10th:  Harris County High School, Hamilton, Ga. – Cole Reynolds and Colby Koon, two bass, 5-6

The 2020 FLW High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing Lake Seminole Open was a free, two-person (team) event for students in grades 7-12 and open to any FLW and Student Angler Federation-affiliated high school club. The top 10 percent of teams at each Open event along with the TBF High School Fishing state championships will advance to the 2020 High School Fishing National Championship on the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship to the school of their choice.

In addition to the High School Fishing National Championship, all High School Fishing anglers nationwide automatically qualify for the world’s largest open high school bass tournament, the 2020 High School Fishing World Finals, held in conjunction with the National Championship. At the 2019 World Finals more than $150,000 in scholarships and prizes were awarded.
