Reynolds Closes Strong at Texoma

Calera, Okla., pro Jeff Reynolds backed up a strong day-two performance at the Costa FLW Series Southwestern Division tournament presented by Frabill at Lake Texoma that earned him the tournament lead with a final-day stringer of 15 pounds, 9 ounces to secure his first win at the Series level. Reynolds fished a Heddon Zara Spook on shallow sand flats to catch smallmouths and a Texas-rigged Zoom Trick Worm in brush piles in 25 feet of water for largemouths. Jeff Reynolds alternated between his shallow and deep games to take over the lead on day two of the Costa FLW Series presented by Frabill on Lake Texoma. Reynolds worked some topwater action, but also caught fish on slower baits. Overall, it’s a pretty solid mix of shallow and deep, but while cranking did a lot of damage in the wind on day one, slower presentations seemed to do the heavy lifting on a much calmer day two. Day two of the Costa FLW Series presented by Frabill on Lake Texoma featured much calmer weather and a very unstable top 10. Moving up into the lead, Jeff Reynolds of Calera, Okla., plopped 19 pounds, 4 ounces on the scale for a total of 36 pounds even. Reynolds now boasts a lead of 2-9 over T.R. Andreas, who moved up one place from day one and has 33-7 in the bank. Heading into the final day, it looks like the top four pros have the best chance at a win, but there are big bags to be caught out on Texoma and plenty of heavy hitters in the rest of the top 10. A clear morning took an abrupt change shortly after take off when the western sky darkened with an approaching front. The sun had barely breached the treetops when grey clouds blanketed the lake.
