Ranger Boat

A brand-new Ranger

You could win the same Ranger Z521C powered by a 250-hp Evinrude that the pros rely on in the premier Cup giveaway, which is presented by WCOS 97.5 FM.

Entry forms will be available at the front entrance to the Expo at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center each day, and it’s free to enter. The only stipulation is that you must be present at the final weigh-in at Colonial Life Arena on Sunday, Aug. 13 to win. The Cup winner will draw name to determine the boat winner, but if you’re not there, he’ll draw again (it happens every year; don’t be that guy). Come sign up for the chance at a dream fishing rig.

Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker

A trip with Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker

You’ll never have more fun than what you’d experience if you won the 107.5 FM The Game “Ultimate Fishing Experience” presented by Quaker State, which includes a free fishing trip with Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker at Houston’s private lake in Oklahoma.

To register to win, swing by the 107.5 FM The Game Seminar Room in the FLW Expo and take in a seminar. You’ll automatically be entered. The winner and a guest will crush hawgs with Jimmy and Hank, and they’ll get a $500 Shell gas card to help cover travel expenses.

1,000 free rods and reels for kids

This is one of the most popular giveaways each year, and for obvious reasons. The first 500 children ages 14 and under to attend the FLW Expo at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center when doors open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 and Sunday, Aug. 13 will receive a voucher for a free Kid Casters Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Steinhauser Deluxe, or Dora and Friends no-tangle rod-and-reel combo as part of a giveaway presented by WLTX News 19.

Vouchers can later be redeemed for the rod and reel at the Colonial Life Arena exits following the Aug. 12 and 13 weigh-ins.

Jackson Kayak

A Jackson Kayak

Quaker State and Lamar are partnering to give away a sweet new Jackson Kayak Coosa HD at the day-two weigh-in at Colonial Life Arena on Saturday, Aug. 12. Entry forms are available at the front entrance to the FLW Expo at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. You must be present at the drawing to win.

A sweet lure pack

The Free Times “Big Fishing” Giveaway will award a $200 lure pack, a one-year FLW membership and a kids rod-and-reel combo to the contest winner.

Pro Michael Murphy is all smiles after weighing 11-10 on day one of the FLW Tour on Lewis Smith Lake.

A guided fishing trip from Navionics

Visit Navionics in booth 186 and register to win a one-day guided fishing trip with local pro Michael Murphy on Lake Murray. To register, show the Navionics staff that you have the Navionics Boating app on your mobile device, and you're in. The winner will be selected in a random drawing at the conclusion of the Expo at 4 p.m. on Aug. 13.

FLW member freebies

Join FLW at the Cup and you’ll receive a tackle pack that includes Charlie’s Worms and Strike King products, a hat, a decal, and VIP passes for early entry and seating at the weigh-ins. Plus, all current and new FLW members get 10 percent off FLW clothing during the show.

Cumberland Practice with Bryan New

Cumberland Practice with Bryan New

Bryan New has steadily been making a case to be considered one of the brightest rising stars of the sport. Five top 10s in T-H Marine Bass Fishing League (BFL) and Costa FLW Series events this year proves it, as does his inclusion in the Costa FLW Series Championship field. New gives an inside look at how he’s been tackling the puzzle that is the FLW Series Championship on what might prove to be an unusually stingy fishery. READ MORE »

Olson Scouts Cumberland

Olson Scouts Cumberland

At just 19 years old, Lane Olson is fishing in the Costa FLW Series Championship. Were he from Alabama or Texas or any number of other southern states known for their bass fishing, that wouldn’t be too surprising. But Olson is schlepping all the way to Kentucky from Oregon, where he finished second in the Western Division Angler of the Year standings, missing out on the top spot by just one point. READ MORE »

Roaming Cumberland with Davidson

Roaming Cumberland with Davidson

Davidson, a West Virginia native, qualified for the Costa FLW Series Championship out of the Northern Division and has fished the T-H Marine Bass Fishing League (BFL) Mountain Division quite a bit. He’s spent a lot of time on Cumberland and nearby Dale Hollow in the cooler months. As such, he’s one of a handful that pundits are definitely keeping an eye on heading into the championship, and he was kind enough to let me tag along for part of the second practice day on the Kentucky reservoir. 2019 Costa FLW Series Championship Roster

The 2019 Costa FLW Series Championship brings together anglers from all over the world to compete for a top prize worth $100,000 on the pro side and $35,000 on the co-angler side. Qualifying from the T-H Marine Bass Fishing League (BFL) All-American, the International Division and five standard FLW Series divisions, a total of 193 pros and 193 co-anglers will descend on Lake Cumberland for a fall showdown to wrap up the fishing season. The Layout of Lake Cumberland

The Layout of Lake Cumberland

The ninth largest reservoir in the U.S., Lake Cumberland is a perfect stage for the Costa FLW Series Championship. Home to all three bass species and over 1000 miles of shoreline, the lake can swallow up a big field with relative ease, and with the fall bite starting to pick up in earnest and the water level lower than usual, the fishing should be pretty good. Previewing the Costa Championship

Previewing the Costa Championship

When 200 pros (and 200 co-anglers) descend on the southern Kentucky reservoir for the Costa FLW Series Championship, they’ll be facing conditions that might look nothing like what they’ll see as the official practice period opens this weekend. Forecasts call for ample rain over the weekend, and lake levels are likely to fluctuate as a result. READ MORE »

Eyes on the Weather at Lake of the Ozarks

Eyes on the Weather at Lake of the Ozarks

Wrapping up the Costa FLW Series Central Division with an early fall stop at Lake of the Ozarks has become a tradition over the last few years. This year, the final stop of the season is presented by Evinrude and takes place Oct. 10-12, which should be good timing for a number of patterns to play. READ MORE »

Transition Time at Grand Lake

Transition Time at Grand Lake

Grand Lake has been flooded for most of the summer, and, as a result, it hasn’t received as much fishing pressure as is typical for one of the premier fisheries in the region. Weights for the Costa FLW Series Southwestern Division finale, presented by T-H Marine, have the potential to be outstanding for this time of year, but it may all come down to what the weather decides to do leading up to the event. The Cal Delta is Looking Good

The Cal Delta is Looking Good

This week the Costa FLW Series Western Division will conclude with the final event of the season on the California Delta. The tournament, which is presented by Power-Pole, should showcase a different side of the Delta, given that most of the Western Division tournaments on the famed fishery take place in the spring. That said, last year’s event on the Delta fell on nearly identical dates as this year and could be a good tease for how things may shake out this time around. READ MORE »

Big Smallmouths, Big Water for Season Finale

Big Smallmouths, Big Water for Season Finale

Any tournament with smallmouths in it is a good one, but when the Costa FLW Series Northern Division presented by Gajo Baits heads to the St. Lawrence River it's usually a show-stopper. This year’s event, which is presented by Realtree Fishing, shouldn’t be any different as the Northern Division looks to close its season out on one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the world September 19-21. Another Potomac Rumble Looms

Another Potomac Rumble Looms

Moving south from Lake Champlain, the second stop of the 2019 Costa FLW Series Northern Division presented by Gajo Baits is on the Potomac River. The tournament, which is presented by Lowrance and runs Aug. 22-24, should offer a fairly standard set of August conditions for the anglers, with plenty of quality largemouths to go around. Day 3 of Practice with Scanlon

Casey Scanlon won the FLW Tour season finale at Lake Champlain, which he almost had to do to make the FLW Cup. Now that he’s here at Lake Hamilton, he’s got a shot at $300,000 and a possible edge over the competition due to his momentum and extensive Ozark experience. READ MORE »

Hard Lessons and the FLW Cup

Hard Lessons and the FLW Cup

Two terrible tournaments to end the season cost Miles Burghoff his shot at the Polaris Rookie of the Year title. This week at the FLW Cup on Lake Hamilton, he's hoping to apply the lessons learned at the end of the season to his preparation for the championship event. READ MORE »

Thrift Roams Hamilton on Day 2

Thrift Roams Hamilton on Day 2

In seemingly any tournament that Bryan Thrift shows up to he is without a doubt one of the favorites to win. With two FLW Tour Angler of the Year titles, six Tour wins and five Costa FLW Series wins – including his most recent on Lake Champlain just a few weeks ago – it’s easy to understand why. Riding Around Practice on Day 2

Riding Around Practice on Day 2

In a Ranger Z520L with a 250-hp Evinrude G2, it takes about 15 minutes to run from Carpenter Dam, which impounds Lake Hamilton, to the Blakely Mountain Dam that separates Hamilton from Lake Ouachita. If you stop and chat with 11 pros along the way, however, you’ll need most of the morning, but you’ll also wind up with a pretty sound idea of what’s going on at Hamilton for this week’s FLW Cup. The First Morning with B. Lat

The First Morning with B. Lat

You won’t hear Brian Latimer complain about hot weather and tough fishing in Arkansas during this week’s FLW Cup at Lake Hamilton. For B. Lat, sweating it out on the water is vastly better than working in the heat installing landscaping and mowing lawns for a living, which is what he was doing just a few years ago. A lot’s changed since those days. Now, Latimer is an FLW Tour champion, with a growing fishing media company and his first shot at a Cup title. READ MORE »

The FLW Cup Playing Field

The FLW Cup Playing Field

It’s been 14 seasons since the FLW Cup has been held at Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Ark. In the years since, FLW fans have likely developed some familiarity with nearby Lake Ouachita, which has been a frequent destination for the Cup and, in fact, hosted last year’s championship event. Hamilton is less-known because it hasn’t gotten the nod to host the finale since July 2005, when George Cochran won his third bass-fishing world championship . READ MORE »
