MINNEAPOLIS – Daniel Green of Prattville, Alabama, accumulated the most points of any Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Fantasy Fishing player worldwide after last week’s FLW Tour event at the Harris Chain presented by Ranger Boats in Leesburg, Florida. Green won $5,000 by assembling a team of anglers and earning points based on their performance in the FLW Tour fishing tournament.

“After the Harris Chain tournament wrapped up, I checked the Fantasy Fishing results and couldn’t believe I had won,” said Green, “I thought the numbers may be wrong, or something still needed to be updated, but it was real.”

Green said that he relied heavily on his own instincts to put together his winning lineup.

“I knew spawning fish may be a factor, so I picked anglers who were likely to drag a Yamamoto Senko worm around lily pads,” said Green. “Bryan Thrift is good with a worm, and tends to do well in every tournament he competes in, so he definitely made the cut.

“I also wanted some Florida residents on my team, so I went with guys like J.T. Kenney and John Cox,” continued Green. “I’ll probably put Cox on my team for the rest of the year – he’s a stick. He fishes a lot like I do. He gets away from the crowd and finds his own deal.”

Green said he plans on playing FLW Fantasy Fishing for the remainder of the season.

“Who knows, maybe I’ll rack up enough points and win the $10,000 grand prize,” said Green.

Finishing in second place was Diane LeHew of Charlotte, North Carolina, who won $1,000, and in third place was Mike Daley of Taylorville, Illinois, who won $500.

Several other winners from across the globe took home prizes including cash, ShopFLW gift cards, hats and baits.

The 2017 Fantasy Fishing season consists of eight tournaments surrounding the FLW Tour regular season including the season-ending Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of bass fishing. Fans compete for more than $7,000 in cash and prizes from each of the seven tournaments and a top prize of $5,000. The cumulative grand prize for the highest ranked player at the end of the season is $10,000.
