Gross' winning pattern on the pro side

During the week Fricks fished with pros Jared Dial, Joey Sabbagha and Bryan Thrift to check in daily weights of 9-12, 11-2 and 12-5, respectively.

No matter who he fished with or where he went, Fricks relied on one lure: a weightless Zoom Salty Super Fluke in pearl white, rigged on a 5/0 Gamakatsu hook tied to 15-pound test Trilene Big Game line.

“The Super Fluke is just a big confidence bait back home on Lake Hartwell for me, so that’s what I used here.” Fricks says. “I’d just cast it out, work it real slow and even just dead stick it at times.”

Fricks says his three pros fished similar water – grass flats in 2 to 5 feet of water, which was perfect for fan casting the Fluke all around the boat. The only time he did anything different was when he fished with Thrift today.

“Bryan took me to some thick, shallow pads this afternoon and the Fluke didn’t work to well there,” he adds. “So I tied on a Spro frog and caught one on it.”

For his win, Fricks took home $1,600 and a Ranger Z175 with a 90-hp Evinrude outboard.
