Mother nature could not make up her mind today. The morning started out with a light overcast then it started to rain for a bit. Once that subsided there was a brief window of clear skies. At 11 a.m. dense clouds and heavier rains rolled in. There has been scattered showers ever since.
Tules seemed to be the deal today. Anglers were throwing at, around and away from tules lines. Some were flipping them but most were throwing moving baits. Umbrella rigs and swimbaits were the most popular choices. Some anglers were targeting docks using a mix of finesse and moving bait.
Our on the water crew saw a lot of short fish being caught. There were several reports of small limits. It seems the weights will be down from yesterday.
Jim Moulton caught an 8-pound fish first thing in the morning on an umbrella. Later he plucked a 5-pound bass off a bed. His weight estimate was 18 pounds for four fish when we left him around 11 a.m. Todd Woods started his day with a 6 pound fish on an umbrella rig as well. He had three fish for over 12 pounds in the first hour of competition. Kevin Stewart had four little ones at 10 a.m. Wayne Brealeaze had 10 pounds as of 11:30.
