On the water reporters for the Costa FLW Series presented by Frabill on Santee Cooper have determined that the tournament leaders are somewhat divided into two camps: those fishing way up the upper lake and those fishing way down the lower lake.

The upper lake group includes leader Scott Canterbury and fourth place pro Tim Malone. Both are fishing so far back in a flooded forest, it’s hard to even see them most of the time. Malone got on the board early with three bass, one is estimated to be 5 pounds. Meanwhile, Canterbury was struggling early and at about 8:30 made a move far back into the woods into his secondary spot. Canterbury said he was not too worried because most of his bites came in the afternoon on day one.

Way down on the lower lake are Bradley Dortch (2nd) and Brett Mitchell (3rd). At mid-morning, Dortch was sitting on four keepers with three being the right size.

Once again anglers are enjoying some of the prettiest weather spring can provide with sunny skies, light winds and rising water temperatures reaching into the 70 degree range.

Be sure to check back for the live weigh-in at 3 p.m. ET.
