While day one of the Rayovac FLW Series presented by Plano on Lake Champlain was wracked by high winds and rain in the morning, day two has been almost as good as Champlain can be. Though strengthening now, the morning wind was dead out of the west and very manageable and there hasn’t been a hint of rain all day. The only possible issue with the weather is a slight cool-off that has dropped temperatures into the 70s.

We’d like to say that all the top guys are stroking them, but we can’t. Due to a combination of boat trouble and one miscommunication, Glenn Browne is the only one in the top 10 that we have a report on. The word on Browne isn’t great – we left him near Ticonderoga around 9:30 a.m. with four fish. Though having the makings of a limit is great, Browne had been relying on the morning bite and a handful of spots, those not producing well could be bad news.

Based on the rest of the action up north, David Cioppa might be well on his way to a good day and retaining the lead. More often than not, it seems like the anglers targeting smallmouth in the Inland Sea have been pretty successful, with plenty of 3-pound class fish making their way into nets throughout the morning.

The good weather likely means that we’re headed for another exiting weigh-in with plenty of limits. Come right back here at 2 p.m. ET to watch it live and see who moves on to the third day.
