Robert Barrett of Youngsville, North Carolina, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the third Walmart Bass Fishing League Piedmont Division tournament of 2015 on High Rock Lake. For his victory, Barrett earned $4,806.

“I fished a sandy spot about 1000 feet from the takeoff ramp,” Barrett said. “The bass were feeding on shad in a small pocket along a bank. I used a ¼-ounce custom green-pumpkin shaky-head rig with a South Africa Special-colored Zoom Worm to catch my fish. I had my winning stringer completed by 8:30 a.m.

“The flat I targeted was in 14 to 16 feet of water,” continued Barrett. “I had done well in there in practice, so I knew that’s where I needed to be.”

Barrett said he caught approximately 11 keepers over the course of his day.

“I was lucky in the fact that I didn’t have to run around the entire lake looking for new spots,” Barrett said. “For some reason that bank held a lot of fish. I was pretty lucky.”

Pickwick Midday Update – Day 3

For two days Pickwick Lake gave up some nice early morning flurries for the top10 fishing the Toyota Series Central Division event. But this morning, the lake might as well have been frozen over. Despite ample amounts of current still rolling down the lake, and fairly light fishing pressure for a beautiful Saturday morning in the Tennessee Valley, the early bite was shut down for most of the field. Catching fish wasn’t going to be the issue for the third stop of the Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit event on Lake Martin and after day one that certainly was the case. Finding a Lake Martin kicker was Barron Adams, who sacked 17 pounds, 2 ounces to take the lead – thanks in large part to his 8-13 Berkley Big Bass. Results from the Toyota Series Western Division event at Lake Havasu probably didn’t surprise any Western anglers who are familiar with the fishery. Particularly on day one, the lake delivered, kicking out 12 limits of more than 20 pounds, including Tai Au’s limit of 26 pounds, 1 ounce.
