Rayovac FLW Series Southeast Division Finale Set For Lake Seminole

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. – The Rayovac FLW Series is headed to Lake Seminole May 21-23 for a tournament presented by Evinrude when as many as 300 pros and co-anglers will take to the water for the third and final regular-season stop of 2015 in the Southeast Division.

 

“I think that the grass and hydrilla will be the key in this tournament,” said Quaker State pro Scott Canterbury of Springville, Alabama, who finished in third place when the Rayovac FLW Series last competed on Lake Seminole in 2013. “The big females have spawned out over the last four to six weeks, but they’ve stayed shallow because of the shad spawn and the baitfish. They’re hanging out in the grass, and it’s as good as I’ve seen it in the last few years.

 

“I definitely think that the winning pattern will be fishing in that scattered grass and in the hydrilla,” Canterbury continued. “A lot of fish are going to come in 4 to 8 feet of water, where the hydrilla grows out a little deeper.

 

“Swimbaits and big worms will be the baits of choice for a lot of the field,” Canterbury said. “Somebody may find a few on crankbaits as well. Cranking on the grass edges is a good way to find the big ones.”

 

Boater Robert Tindell of Leesburg, Georgia, won this tournament in 2013 with a three-day total of 73 pounds, 10 ounces, by targeting both prespawn and postspawn bass on his way to a dominating 9½-pound margin of victory. Canterbury said that due to this tournament being held a little later in the year, he doesn’t expect competitors to match that total.

 

“Somebody will definitely still catch them pretty good, but it’ll be tough to beat what Tindell brought to the scale in 2013,” Canterbury went on to say. “That tournament was held in early April though, and most of the fish will be postspawn in this event. I think that the winner will have between 60 to 65 pounds after three days of fishing.”

 

Anglers will take off from Bainbridge Earle May Boat Basin located at 100 Boat Basin Circle in Bainbridge, Georgia, at 6:30 a.m. each day. Weigh-in will be held at the launch site on Thursday and Friday beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday’s final weigh-in will be held at Walmart located at 500 E. Alice St. in Bainbridge, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public. The event is being hosted by the Bainbridge Convention & Visitors Bureau.

 

Pros will fish for a top award of $40,000 plus a Ranger Z518C with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard if Ranger Cup guidelines are met. Co-anglers will cast for a top award consisting of a Ranger Z117 with 90-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and $5,000 if Ranger Cup guidelines are met.

 

The Rayovac FLW Series consists of five divisions – Central, Northern, Southeast, Texas and Western. Each division consists of three tournaments and competitors will be vying for valuable points in each division that could earn them the opportunity to fish in the Rayovac FLW Series Championship. The 2015 Rayovac FLW Series Championship is being held Oct. 29-31 on the Ohio River in Paducah, Kentucky.
