Ply sues IGFA over record catch

Ply sues IGFA over record catch
Bull Shoals striped bass

Back in February of 2012 Rodney Ply of Diamond City, Ark., caught what was thought to be a world record striped bass from Bull Shoals Lake weighing 68 pounds. Ply submitted the fish to the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) for record certification but that is when the problems arose. The IGFA denied Ply's claim by stating that the fish was caught in a manner that violated their use of spreader bars. The Arkansas native had used a homemade umbrella rig to catch the monster fish.

Ply is now taking the IGFA to court with a lawsuit to overturn their ruling against the record catch. Aside from having a potential record in the books, Ply was also registered in the Mustad Hooks "Hook-A-Million" contest where he could win $1 million for catching his giant fish on a Mustad. The IFGA will be issued the lawsuit in the next couple of days and will have 20 days to respond once they receive it.

Top 10 Baits from the Harris Chain

Between cold fronts and pressure, the Harris Chain has been a tough nut to crack, yet the top teams in the Abu Garcia College Fishing presented by YETI National Championship presented by Lowrance got it done with a combination of plastic and hard baits. Certainly, the teams learned a thing or two from the Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit event held the week prior on the chain, but you still can never go wrong with a Texas-rigged worm, vibrating jig or lipless crankbait in Florida.
