Table Rock in review

Just prior to the FLW Tour Major on Table Rock, the common starting point for most anglers was shallow. However, the prevalent notion that the event would be won sight-fishing didn’t prove true. Instead, the majority of the top-10 anglers found large limits of pre-spawn females in a 5-mile stretch of Long Creek that had the most stained water. READ MORE »

BRANSON, Mo. – Brent Long had no intention of fishing near the takeoff site at the Walmart FLW Tour Major on Table Rock Lake. As a known shallow, dirty-water fisherman, Long had planned on running way up one of the lake’s main rivers. But after he missed his exit on the way to the Lighthouse Lodge, his GPS brought him to Long Creek, which was red brown in color. At that moment, the North Carolina pro knew he would spend all of his time in that aptly-named area. READ MORE »

BRANSON, Mo. – Brent Long’s memorable 2010 Walmart FLW Tour victory came from the deep ledges of Lake Guntersville. Considering Long prefers shallow flipping and power fishing, the offshore win was ironic. FLW Tour co-angler recap: Table Rock Lake

FLW Tour co-angler recap: Table Rock Lake

The second stop of the FLW Tour Majors brought us to the great scenery of the Ozark Mountains in Branson, Mo. I arrived in Branson Sunday evening after leaving the Lake Seminole Everstart Saturday morning. The first thing that I noticed rolling into town was the damage to a number of buildings from the tornadoes that hit the area just a few weeks prior to our arrival. I started practice early Monday morning with Craig Dowling from Nashville, Tenn. Since the water was up about 4 feet, and the temperature was in the mid 60s we focused mainly on flipping flooded bushes. Our afternoon hours were spent looking for bed fish. We didn’t have many bites, and I immediately knew this was going to be another tough tournament for a co-angler since most of the fish were relating to beds or heavy cover. READ MORE »

BRANSON, Mo. – It’s no secret that many of the bass are up spawning on Table Rock Lake. But it’s early; most of the bass haven’t paired up yet and instead are just fanning and cruising. So instead of sight-fishing, the tournament leaders have resorted to either targeting prespawn fish or stealthily blind-casting to beds. READ MORE »

Table Rock becomes bed-fishing bonanza

Table Rock becomes bed-fishing bonanza

BRANSON, Mo. – When the 2012 Walmart FLW Tour schedule was announced, everyone assumed the second Major of the year would be an excellent prespawn tournament, especially with the recent development of the Alabama rig. But then came a warm winter and an even warmer spring, and the Table Rock bass had no choice but to flock to the bank and do their thing. READ MORE »
