SENECA, S.C. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Hartwell Sept. 10-11 for its fifth and final stop in the South Carolina Division. This will be a two-day super tournament where as many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.

“A lot of the fish are going to be suspended,” said Chevy pro Anthony Gagliardi of Prosperity, S.C. “There should be schooling going on throughout the day, which will lead to a good topwater bite.

“Honestly, the only other thing going on will be some type of shallow pattern up the river,” Gagliardi added. “The shallow bite will be more limited to certain areas of the lake with more color. There might be a couple patterns you can get on, but I really don’t think the weights will be all that great throughout the entire field. It should be a typical late summer type bite.”

Takeoffs will be at the Clemson Beach and Recreation Area located at 275 YMCA Circle in Seneca and are scheduled for 7 a.m. each morning. Saturday’s weigh-in will take place at the marina at 3 p.m. while Sunday’s final weigh-in is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Walmart located at 1636 Sandifer Blvd. in Seneca. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Hartwell BFL tournament is being hosted by the Mountain Lakes Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
