JASPER, Texas – The first day of competition of the EverStart Series Sam Rayburn Reservoir event scheduled for Feb. 10-12 has been canceled due to unsafe weather conditions.

“With water temperatures in the low 40s, winds gusting to 25 miles per hour and air temperatures of 28 degrees we just can’t let the guys go out,” said tournament director Ron Lappin. “If someone had mechanical problems or some other sort of incident they could end up getting killed and it’s just not worth it. Protecting our guys is my first concern.”

Cancellation results in modifications for tournaments

FLW Outdoors has announced changes to the Everstart Series event originally scheduled for Feb. 10-12 and the National Guard FLW College Fishing event originally scheduled for Feb. 12. The first day of competition of the EverStart Series event was canceled due to unsafe weather conditions. The event now will consist of two days of competition where the full fields of both pros and co-anglers will fish, and the winners of each field will be decided by two-day cumulative weights. The National Guard FLW College Fishing event format will remain unchanged, but will commence a day later than originally scheduled.

Anglers will take off from the Umphrey Family Pavilion in Sam Rayburn, Texas, at 8 each morning. Friday and Saturday’s weigh-ins are scheduled to take place at the Umphrey Family Pavilion beginning at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The College Fishing event will take off at 7 a.m. and weigh in at 1 p.m. Sunday at Umphrey Family Pavilion, 5438 Recreation Rd., 255 W., Sam Rayburn, Texas.
