Boater Roger Pope of Statesville, N.C., caught a 10-bass limit weighing 24 pounds, 7 ounces Sept. 18-19 to win $4,540, $2,000 in Ranger Cup money and a $1,000 Evinrude bonus in the BFL North Carolina Division tournament on Lake Norman. Pope was throwing Shooter Lures jigs in brush piles 8 to 12 feet deep in the midlake area to catch his limits.

The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings from the North Carolina Division have now qualified for the Oct. 7-9 Regional Championship on the Potomac River in Marbury, Md. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
