BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (Jan. 31, 2008) – Pro Mike Jackson of San Mateo, Fla., caught four-bass weighing 21 pounds, 7 ounces Thursday to capture the lead in the Stren Series Southeast Division tournament presented by Evinrude on Lake Seminole. With a two-day catch of nine bass weighing 28-13, he now holds an 1-pound, 14-ounce lead over second place pro Clint Brownlee of Tifton, Ga., who managed to haul in a total of seven bass weighing 26-15 during the first two days of competition.

“This is an awesome lake,” said Jackson, who won the FLW Stren Series Championship in 2007. “The weather is making it harder to catch fish but I believe that I can go back to my area and make the top-10 cut.”

Jackson caught his four bass today flipping mats. “I fished a different area than I did yesterday. I found this area about five years ago during a BFL tournament,” he said. “I caught a limit yesterday but the weight wasn’t good at all. Today, I only caught four fish but the weight was there. I had all four fish by 1:30 this afternoon. I am running about 45 minutes to this spot but I think it is well worth it.”

Rounding out the top five pros are Nicolas Supik of Natrona Heights, Pa. (seven bass, 23-08); Rick Couch of Ocala, Fla. (seven bass, 22-06); and Frank Jordan Jr. of Bainbridge, Ga. (seven bass, 22-06).

Jackson earned $285 for the Snickers Big Bass award in the Pro Division thanks to a 8-pound, 2-ounce bass.
