ZAPATA, Texas – Day three of the Stren Series Texas Division event on Falcon Lake can best be described as fishing heaven. Thick cloud cover and northerly winds did their best to frustrate anglers yesterday, but today is a different story. As the 302 fishermen left the Beacon Lodge at roughly 7 this morning, the optimism in the air was unmistakable.

The wind has calmed, the skies have cleared and the water is warming. At beautiful Falcon Lake that means one thing: fish on.

When perfect conditions align on a trophy fishery like Falcon, things could get crazy. Several 30-pound bags will be brought to the scale this afternoon and someone may very well break 37 pounds, the heaviest single-day stringer in FLW Outdoors history. All in all, it will be just another day on the Texas-Mexico border.

Stren Series Texas Division anglers hustle to their Falcon Lake honeyhole.Tune in to the day-three weigh-in festivities, which begin at 3 p.m. Central time at the Beacon Lodge located just off Farm Road 3074 in Zapata.

Following Friday’s competition, the top 10 pros and 10 co-anglers will advance to Saturday’s final round based on cumulative three-day weight. The cutoff in the Pro Division figures to be somewhere between 72 and 75 pounds while the co-anglers will need anywhere from 57 to 60 pounds to be fishing Saturday.
