MINNEAPOLIS – Tune in Sunday, Sept. 16 to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the $200,000 Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series event in Cocodrie, La. The third Western Division event of the $1.9 million season will highlight the best redfish anglers in the world as they compete for a cash prize of up to $50,000.

The “FLW Outdoors” saltwater series is a reality-format show told from the anglers’ perspective. Each week the top-five finalists are followed from takeoff to weigh-in, allowing the audience to feel the anglers’ nerves, listen to their strategy and learn from their mistakes. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

After two days of enduring blazing sun, stifling heat and tricky tides, Texas natives James and John Lloyd lead the field with one day of competition remaining. On day two, the brothers caught a massive two-redfish limit that weighed 16 pounds, 15 ounces, pushing their two-day total weight to 32 pounds even. The duo, who fished a combination of Berkley Gulp Shrimp and Berkley Gulp Pogies, targeted grass lines in 2 to 3 feet of water. Unlike many teams that made runs of 100 miles or more towards Lafitte, La., the Lloyd brothers secured a plentiful area approximately 35 miles from the marina.

The Sept. 16 show also follows the powerhouse team of Tadd VanDemark of Key Largo, Fla., and Kevin Shaw of Corpus Christi, Texas. After winning the FLW Redfish Series event in Port Aransas, Texas, last May, VanDemark and Shaw have their sights squarely set on back-to-back titles. Using a two-day catch of 31 pounds, 5 ounces, the team is tied for second place with Louisiana natives Ray Chagnard and Edward Adams. Not only are VanDemark and Shaw poised for back-to-back victories, they are also honing in on the coveted Land O’Lakes Team of the Year award in the Western Division.

Chagnard and Adams are one of the teams making a long run, traveling 110 miles each way to Delacroix Island. This journey leaves the team with only 1 hour and 45 minutes to fish. But tournament-winning redfish live in the area and Chagnard and Adams know what it takes to win. In 2006, they claimed victory and $50,000 at the Redfish Series event in Lafitte. Tune in to see if they can claim their second title in their home state of Louisiana.
