BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Team Exterminader, headed by Randy Nader of Jacksonville, Fla., caught a kingfish weighing 40 pounds Saturday to win the Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Series South Carolina-Georgia Division event in Brunswick, Ga., and $21,000 cash.

Nader – along with teammates Jerry Moulton, Ray Nader, Mike Francis and Samantha Nader – Were fishing about 65 miles off shore around the Brunswick bottoms area. The team reported catching a number of smaller kings throughout the day. Their tournament-winning king came around noon on a goggle-eye, 40 foot down on a downrigger.

“We had a wonderful day today,” Nader said. “I had actually never fished this spot before. I have had this number in my book for quite some time. I had it as a mainly grouper or amberjack spot. Usually, if you find large number of jacks, you will find the kings. We had caught a bunch of little ones throughout the day. We were quite surprised when we seen this big one.”

Rounding out the top five teams were Team Blue Chief, captained by Chris Blackwell of Fort Pierce, Fla. (33 pounds, 2 ounces, $7,035); Team Back Lash, captained by Ken Murray of Brunswick, Ga. (32 pounds, 10 ounces, $4,690); Team Kat’s Rival, captained by Frank Langdon of Boca Raton, Fla. (31 pounds, 15 ounces, $3,098); and Team Bitta Sweet, captained by Jerry Tumbleston of Mount Pleasant, S.C. (31 pounds, 11 ounces, $3,350).

Jordan David of Advance, N.C., placed 10th with a 27-pound, 15-ounce kingfish as a member of Team Reel Culture to earn the tournament’s award for the highest-finishing competitor under 16 years old.

The award for highest-finishing woman went to Stephanie Neill of Fort Pierce, Fla., who placed second with a 33-pound, 3-ounce kingfish as a member of Team Blue Chief.

FLW Kingfish Series qualifying tournaments are one-day events. Each team is allowed to weigh in one kingfish, and the winning team is determined by the heaviest fish. The next FLW Kingfish Series South Carolina-Georgia Division event will be held Aug. 8 in Beaufort, S.C.
