DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Day two of the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour event in Devils Lake, N.D., has been canceled due to inclement weather. With winds gusting to 50 mph and sustained winds around 30 mph, conditions on Devils Lake were deemed unsafe by Sonny Reynolds, FLW Outdoors’ director of walleye operations.
“Safety is our main priority,” Reynolds said. “Life and limb are more important than equipment and catching fish. Everyone will stay in today and get back after it again Friday.”
Action will resume Friday at 7 a.m. from the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort Marina located at 7889 Highway 57 in St. Michael, N.D. Friday’s weigh-ins will also be held at the marina beginning at 3 p.m. The field will follow their predetermined day three pairings, and the top-10 cut will take place at the conclusion of the weigh-in based on the accumulated weight from Wednesday and Friday. These 10 finalists will take off at 7 a.m. Saturday from the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort Marina and will weigh-in at the Wal-Mart store located at 210 Highway 2 W. in Devils Lake beginning at 4 p.m. The community is invited to attend daily takeoffs and weigh-ins, which are free and open to the public.
Pros and co-anglers are randomly paired each day and fish for a combined boat weight. Pros compete against other pros, and co-anglers compete against other co-anglers.
