BAINBRIDGE, Ga. – As the saying goes, red sky in the morning, sailors take warning. Or in this case, it should be anglers take warning.

Most anglers fishing the Stren Series Southeast Division event on Lake Seminole did not have to see the red dawn on day two to know that storms were quickly approaching from the west. A quick peek at a weather radar this morning told the story.

While air temperatures were some 15 degrees warmer at takeoff on day two, the air was also heavy with impending rain, which had already begun to fall as the field launched from the Earle May Boat Basin.

Also, a steady 10 to 15 mph wind from the south had many anglers shaking their heads. With several of the leaders fishing offshore locations, stormy, breezy conditions were not what they wanted.

The only silver lining to be found in the dark clouds this morning was the fact that this tournament is still anyone’s ball game on both the pro and co-angler sides.

Seminole is a fickle lake, capable of delivering any angler with a 20-pound catch in a span of minutes. Even those that zeroed yesterday could bounce right back into the thick of it with a good catch today.

And as one angler shouted from the pack of waiting boats just before takeoff, “They haven’t bit in four days; they gotta eat sometime!”

The day two weigh-in will begin Thursday at 3 p.m. Eastern time at the Earle May Boat Basin in Bainbridge.
