Fisher wins Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Super Tournament on Lake Oconee

BUCKHEAD, Ga. – Boater Pat Fisher of Buckhead, Ga., earned 300 points and $7,138 Sunday as the winner of the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Bulldog Division Super Tournament on Lake Oconee. He also earned a $1,500 Ranger Cup and Powered by Yamaha bonus for a total of $8,638 in winnings.

Fisher’s two-day winning catch of nine bass weighed 24 pounds, 8 ounces. He was throwing a Zoom green-pumpkin Old Monster worm around docks to catch his bass.

Rounding out the top five boaters are Mark Holloway of Loganville, Ga. (nine bass, 23 pounds, 11 ounces, $3,569); Benny Lanning of Covington, Ga. (10 bass, 22 pounds, 1 ounce, $2,378); Kip Carter of Oxford, Ga. (nine bass, 21 pounds, 11 ounces, $1,666); and Lamontie Walters of Warner Robins, Ga. (eight bass, 21 pounds, 4 ounces, $1,428).

Tony Couch of Buckhead, Ga., won the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award with a 6-pound, 4-ounce bass that earned him $1,065.

Cody Giddens of Cochran, Ga., earned $3,569 as the co-angler winner thanks to nine bass weighing 23 pounds that he caught on a red bug finesse worm in the backs of creeks.

Rounding out the top five co-anglers are George Goodman Jr. of Monticello, Ga. (four bass, 13 pounds, 12 ounces, $1,785); Chris Eysel of Columbus, Ga. (five bass, 12 pounds, 14 ounces, $1,191); Dennis Hudson of Fortson, Ga. (six bass, 12 pounds, 10 ounces, $833); and Ed Williamson of Greensboro, Ga. (six bass, 12 pounds, 8 ounces, $714).

Goodman also earned an additional $532 as the Co-Angler Division Snickers Big Bass winner with a 6-pound, 11-ounce bass.

The top 40 Bulldog Division boaters and co-anglers based on year-end points standings will now advance to the no-entry-fee Lake Chickamauga Regional Championship near Hixson, Tenn., Oct. 12-14, where they will compete against Dixie, LBL and Music City anglers for a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck in the Boater Division plus six slots in the no-entry-fee 2007 Wal-Mart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. With a total purse of $1 million and a potential $140,000 cash going to the winning boater and $70,000 going to the winning co-angler, the All-American is one of the most prestigious and lucrative events in bass fishing.

The Boater Division points champion who advances the farthest at the All-American will earn $10,000 as the Yamaha “Be the Best” points champion. The co-angler points champion who advances the farthest will earn $5,000 as the Yamaha “Be the Best” points champion in the Co-angler Division.
