MINNEAPOLIS – Tune in Sunday, Sept. 17 to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the $200,000 Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series event presented by Yamaha in Fernandina Beach, Fla. The fourth and final Eastern Division event of the $1.9 million FLW Redfish Series season concludes with the winning team claiming a cash prize of up to $50,000.

The “FLW Outdoors” saltwater series is a reality-format show told from the anglers’ perspective. Each week the top-five finalists are followed from takeoff to weigh-in, allowing the audience to feel the anglers’ nerves, listen to their strategy and learn from their mistakes. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

This tournament presented Eastern Division anglers with their last chance at qualifying for the three-day, no-entry-fee $300,000 Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series Championship to be held in Pensacola, Fla., Oct. 19-21. The championship winner will take home as much as $100,000.

After two days of competition at Fernandina Beach, the event saw a complete reshuffling of the top five teams. The day-one leaders struggled while those farther back in the pack rose to the occasion. Scott Hughes of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Mike Laramy of Tampa, Fla., moved to the top on the strength of a 12-pound, 6-ounce catch to add to their day-one weight of 10-15 for a two-day total of 23-05. The team is fishing in two separate spots located in the Intracoastal Waterway near Jacksonville, Fla. The two are using a combination of 3-inch Berkley Gulp shrimp, Exude Tubes and RT Slugs to catch their fish.

Be the fish: Warren Girle has some fun demonstrating what he hopes to have happen on his first cast this morning.Chalk up yet another top-10 for the redfish team of Warren Girle of Long Boat Key, Fla., and Billy Harris of Bradenton, Fla. On day two, Girle and Harris brought in 12 pounds, 9 ounces for a two-day total of 22-13 to move into second place. That now makes five top-10 qualifications for this team in their last eight regular-season events. Girle and Harris are staying close in the Nassau Sound area and are throwing Exude RT Slugs and Darts.

Brothers Ronald Hueston of Naples, Fla., and Chris Hueston of Miami grabbed third place heading into the final round with a catch of 11 pounds, 13 ounces for a two-day total of 22-1. The Huestons are making an hour-long run to the south to capitalize on low water and then running all the way back up close to Fernandina to take advantage of the first part of the falling tide. Tune in to see if their run-and-gun strategy works on day three.
