CASS LAKE, Minn. – Boater Dusty Minke of Forest Lake, Minn., earned $2,380 along with an additional $500 contingency award Saturday as winner of the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League Minnesota Division event on Cass Lake. Minke, along with co-angler John Sullivan of Lakeville, Minn., caught a five-walleye limit weighing 13 pounds, 2 ounces.

The team was trolling three-way Northland Spinners in 10 to15 feet of water around midlake structure to catch their larger fish. The team then went to a shallower bite long lining crawler rigs in 9 to 12 feet of water along a breakline. The team worked this spot to fill their limit to go with the larger fish caught from deeper water. The team pulled 10 keeper walleyes through the entire day.

Rounding out the top five boaters are Chad Benson of Bemidji, Minn. (five walleyes, 12 pounds, 10 ounces, $1,224); Harv Lueck of Laporte, Minn. (five walleyes, 11 pounds, 6 ounces, $1,020 plus $300 contingency bonus); Carl Adams Jr. of Blackduck, Minn. (four walleyes, 10 pounds, 3 ounces, $884 plus $250 contingency bonus); and Duane Peterson of Bemidji, Minn. (five walleyes, 9 pounds, 13 ounces, $612).

Sullivan earned $1,190 as winner of the Co-angler Division. Co-angler competitors share weight with their boater partner. Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Paul Kanz of Oronoco, Minn. ($612); Jamie Ritter of Hastings, Minn. ($510); Forrest Melton of Albany, Minn. ($442) and Timothy Schneider of Anoka, Minn. ($306).

Three FLW Walleye League divisions – Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin – each feature three one-day events and one two-day Super Tournament during the regular season. Every angler who receives weight credit earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 for second, 198 for third, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 299 for second, 298 for third, and so on. These points determine angler standings.

The top 35 boaters and 35 co-anglers from each FLW Walleye League division advance to the $141,950 Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League Finals, set for Sept. 7-9 on Lake Michigan in Escanaba, Mich. Anglers finishing in the top 10 in each division also receive priority entry into the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour for 2007.

The Minnesota Division’s next stop is the Super Tournament presented by Evinrude July 22-23 on the Mississippi River in Red Wing, Minn.
