A great catch in Motor City

LEBANON, Mo. – The Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour event held in Detroit this past week certainly showed that G3 Boats was very serious when they recently put together their national walleye-fishing team. The G3 anglers put together a fantastic showing considering that the team did not even exist a mere two months ago.

The star of the show for Team G3 during the event was Captain Nate Provost of Gulliver, Mich. Provost is considered by many to be one of the top anglers on tour and his seventh-place finishing weight of 60 pounds, 6 ounces is certain to build on that record. On the G3 co-angler side it was Donald Monda who was swinging in the heavy fish, including a 13-pound fish on day two and a 12-pound-plus fish on day three.

The seven G3 team pro’s and three co-angler’s had a combined total weight of over 232 pounds during the tournament, and every single member made it onto the leaderboard. Some members provided day-to-day consistency, while others had very large fish or pulled in excellent one-day limits.

G3 Pro Team Manager Lamarr Van Dame said, “We are thrilled with the overall performance of the team and everyone is looking forward to the next event in Red Wing, Minn.”

Team G3 also showed true sportsmanship when team member Jerry Ruffolo assisted another competitor who was having boat problems. Ruffolo and his co-angler brought in a member of the other boat along with all of their fish so they would not be disqualified from the weigh-in.

Paul Ness, operations manager for G3 Boats, attended the tour event and said, “I am proud of this group; they all worked very hard to give us a good showing in our first FLW Walleye Tour tournament.”
