LAGRANGE, Ga. – Normally, day-two catches in a multi-day bass tournament are off from the day-one catches due to fishing pressure.

But at times, vastly improving fishing conditions can override the overall impact of fishing pressure, and today might be such a day at the Stren Series Southeast event on West Point Lake.

Over the weekend, a severe cold front entered the southeastern United States, drivingPro Alex Ormand of Bessemer City, N.C., points as he idles under the Hwy. 109 bridge. temperatures well below the freezing mark. The water temperatures took a nose dive, and the bass responded by sulking.

On Wednesday Old Man Winter loosened his grip, and temperatures began to moderate. Last night’s temperatures were not near as cold as earlier in the week, and today’s highs are forecasted to be in the mid-70s.

The warming trend should improve the bite, and it will be interesting to see what the Stren Series pros and co-anglers can turn up today.

Thursday’s weigh-in begins at 3 p.m. Eastern at Highland Marina.
