MINNEAPOLIS – Tune in Sunday to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the $300,000 Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour event held in Morehead City, N.C., Oct. 10-11. The final regular-season event of the most lucrative kingfish tournament trail in the country concludes with the winning team claiming a cash prize of $70,000.

The “FLW Outdoors” saltwater series is a reality-format show told from the anglers’ perspective. Each week the top four teams are followed from takeoff to weigh-in, allowing the audience to feel the anglers’ nerves, listen to their strategy and learn from their mistakes. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

FLW Kingfish Tour events are two-day tournaments with the heaviest kingfish determining the winner. The final regular-season event of the season will determine which teams will go on to fish the no-entry-fee $500,000 Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour Championship. The top 50 teams of the 2005 season will go on to fish the championship, where the winner will take home as much as $150,000.

Leading after a wet, blustery day one was Team Marcia-D with a 35-pound, 3-ounce kingfish caught using pogies near the surface. The team, captained by Perry Johnston of Oak Island, N.C., capitalized on an early bite when the weather was relatively calm.

Team No Doubt, captained by Trae Ross of Oxford, Ga., finished the day in second place. His team boated their 27-pound, 7-ounce king mackerel near the end of the day by fishing a single pogy at mid-depth.

Watch as the field of 89 boats attempts to top the 35-pound, 3-ounce kingfish caught on day one.
