Taylor earns Super Tournament victory on Clarks Hill Lake

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Boater Brock Taylor of Pendleton, S.C., earned $5,483 Sunday as winner of the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Savannah River Division Super Tournament event on Clarks Hill Lake. The tournament earned Taylor 300 points in the Boater Division.

Taylor’s winning catch of 10 bass weighed 36 pounds, 9 ounces. Taylor threw white Zoom Flukes around humps near the dam to catch his bass. He earned an additional $1,000 as winner of the Bombardier bonus.

Rounding out the top five pros are Marty Robinson of Landrum, S.C. (10 bass, 22 pounds, 9 ounces, $2,676); Jason Williamson of Aiken, S.C. (10 bass, 20 pounds, 10 ounces, $1,305); Marty Quesada Jr. of Appling (10 bass, 20 pounds, 3 ounces, $1,175); and David Vaughn of Royston (10 bass, 19 pounds, 11 ounces, $1,044).

Taylor and Robinson tied for the big-bass award winner in the Boater Division. Each angler caught a 5-pound, 12-ounce bass and earned $500.

Robinson earned another $500 as winner of the Ranger Cup award.

Doug Mahoney of Belton, S.C., earned $2,706 as the co-angler winner, thanks to 10 bass weighing 18 pounds, 8 ounces that he caught on a white Zoom Fluke.

Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Mark Whitman of Elon College, N.C. (10 bass, 17 pounds, 13 ounces, $1,321); Danny Ashley of Donalds, S.C. (nine bass, 17 pounds, $644); Dustin Flynn of Greer, S.C. (10 bass, 16 pounds, 4 ounces, $580); and Chandler Robinson of Pendleton, S.C. (nine bass, 15 pounds, 3 ounces, $515).

Randy Norris of Winterville earned $485 as the co-angler big-bass award winner with a 4-pound, 11-ounce bass he caught on a white Zoom Fluke.

Following the regular season, the Savannah River Division boater with the most points will earn $1,000 as the Yamaha “Be the Best” points champion. The co-angler amassing the most points will earn $500 as the Yamaha “Be the Best” points champion in the Co-angler Division.

The top 40 Savannah River Division boaters and co-anglers based on year-end points standings will advance to the Lake Martin Regional near Alexander City, Ala., Oct. 18-22 where they will compete against Everglades, Gator and Mississippi Division anglers for one of six slots in the 2006 All-American. With a total purse of $1 million and a potential $140,000 cash prize going to the winning boater and $70,000 going to the winning co-angler, the All-American is one of the most prestigious and lucrative events in bass fishing.

The $8.4 million Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League features 28 divisions nationwide.
