EUFAULA, Ala. – Pros and co-anglers fishing the EverStart Series Eastern Division event on Lake Eufaula are back at it on day two.

At Wednesday’s weigh-in, 39 limits were checked in on the pro side. The top-10 cut came to rest at 15 pounds, 1 ounce, and “money” was 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

Among the top 5 five anglers, two patterns began to emerge. Tournament leader Jim Murray Jr. of Arabi dialed into a “shad spawn” pattern to weigh-in 24 pounds, 2 ounces Wednesday. He is targeting largemouths that are feeding on shad, which spawn in schools along riprap and retaining walls.

Other successful anglers used spinnerbaits and jigs in shallow water in the river portion of Eufaula to score top-5 weights.

The consensus among pros now is that the bass spawn in mostly over. With waterAnglers cross paths and talk about the day temperatures reaching the 70-degree mark and a waning moon, many pros are weighing in long, skinny fish that are done spawning.

“I think it’s about over,” said sight-fishing expert Greg Pugh of Cullman, Ala., who weighed in four bass for 12 pounds yesterday. “I caught a couple by sight-fishing, but a lot of the ones I found just two days ago are either gone or guarding fry.”

The day-two weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Lakepoint State Park.
