MINNEAPOLIS – It was announced Thursday that Knoxville, Tenn., resident Scott Neubill was the winner of the recent FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge, which coincided with the Wal-Mart FLW Tour event held on the Ouachita River in Monroe, La.

Neubill is a 39-year-old satellite dish installer who enjoys fishing in his free time. “I grew up in Alabama fishing on Lake Eufaula,” he said. “I mainly like to fish for bass and crappie, but I also fish for stripers and hybrids.” Neubill’s favorite lakes near Knoxville are Douglas Lake and Cherokee Lake.

In his first time participating in the Fantasy Fishing Challenge, Neubill’s rookie luck earned him a check for $5,000. “When I found I out I won, it made my day.” Neubill plans on playing in the next event, which corresponds with the Wal-Mart Open. “Maybe I can win a million this time,” he quipped. Neubill’s fantasy team earned 899 points in the Ouachita River contest and was only 101 points away from perfection.

In second place was J.D. Elliot of Rowlett, Texas, who won a die-cast replica of an official FLW Outdoors sponsor boat and a one-year FLW Outdoors membership. Rounding out the top five are Tim Matthews of Panama City, Fla., in third place, Chris Conner of Amarillo, Texas, in fourth place, and Tom Beale of Rochester Hills, Mich., in fifth place. The top 25 finishers win an assortment of FLW Outdoors prizes that may include FLW Outdoors-branded lures, Plano gear bags, FLW Outdoors T-shirts and FLW Outdoors hats.

The grand prize for the FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge is $1 million. In order to claim the grand prize, a participant must predict the top five pro anglers, in sequential order, fishing in an FLW Tour event.

The next chance to win great prizes in the challenge will correspond with the Wal-Mart Open, which takes place April 13-16 at Beaver Lake near Rogers, Ark. Registration for the next contest is free, but must be completed online at FLWOutdoors.com by 11:59 p.m. ET April 12, 2005.
