Pro Michael Brewton of Nacogdoches, Texas, caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 45 pounds, 3 ounces to win $73,500 in cash and prizes at the Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail event on Lake Amistad.

DEL RIO, Texas – Pro Michael Brewton of Nacogdoches caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 45 pounds, 3 ounces to win $73,500 in cash and prizes at the Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail event on Lake Amistad. A field of 200 pros and 200 co-anglers competed in the event, which featured a $205,500 purse.

In his first FLW Outdoors win, Brewton earned a Ranger 519 VX powered by a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard, Minn Kota trolling motor, Garmin electronics and EverStart batteries, the $20,000 Ranger bonus, the $5,000 Ranger Cup award, $2,500 Powered by Yamaha award and the $1,000 Garmin Grand award.

Brewton flipped and pitched a Zoom Brush Hog in the Devils River Arm of the lake.

Rounding out the top five pros are James Davis Jr. of Ferriday, La. (10 bass, 45 pounds, 2 ounces, $8,000 plus $6,000 bonus); Trent Huckaby of Fort Stockton (10 bass, 42 pounds, 13 ounces, $6,000 plus $4,000 bonus); Barry Smith of Palo Pinto (10 bass, 42 pounds, 12 ounces, $4,300); and David Curtis of Trinity (10 bass, 40 pounds, 11 ounces, $3,200 plus $2,500 bonus).

Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Frank Morales, Sr. of Rowlett (10 bass, 33 pounds, 8 ounces, $3,000); Bill Gilroy of Jasper (10 bass, 33 pounds, 7 ounces, $2,000 plus $1,200 bonus); Joe Hale of Spicewood (10 bass, 32 pounds, 15 ounces, $1,000); and Mike Power of Canyon Lake (10 bass, 32 pounds, 1 ounces, $800 plus $900 bonus).

Bill Lee of Killeen won the tournament’s $500 Travis Boating Center big-bass gift certificate with an 8-pound, 7-ounce bass. Travis Boating Center, one of the nation’s largest retailers of Ranger Boats, sponsors 2005 TTT big-bass awards.

Bonuses are awarded to registered Ranger boat owners. Pros must also fish out the eligible Ranger boat during the tournament to qualify for contingency awards.

The next TTT event will be held April 2-3 on Richland Chambers Reservoir near Corsicana. The top 50 pros and co-anglers based on year-end points standings will advance to the $195,000 Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail Championship Oct. 15-16 on Lake Conroe near Conroe. The winning pro at the championship can earn as much as $71,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ranger boat.
