NATCHITOCHES, La. – By the time the top 10 pros and 10 co-anglers get to the final-day weigh-in of the EverStart Series Central Division this afternoon, they will probably be as wet as the fish in their livewells.
The finalists launched in the middle of a downpour Saturday morning, and it doesn’t look like they are going to get any relief from the numerous thunderstorms pounding the Red River valley.
The local radar shows rain all around Shreveport, and the forecast is for a 90 percent chance of rain most of the day.
Many of the finalists are making long runs through the heavy rain to get to their fishing areas, an unpleasant proposition to say the least.
George Jeane of Evans, La., leads the event by 4 pounds going into today’s final round. That’s a pretty good margin on the Red River, especially on a day when weather will certainly impact fishing areas and patterns.
Who will weather the storm on the Red?
We will find out at the final weigh-in, taking place today at the Natchitoches Wal-Mart at 4 p.m. Central time.
Saturday’s conditions
Air temperature: 63 degrees
Water temperature: 70 degrees
Wind: forecasted from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph, higher gusts near thunderstorms
