ARKDALE, Wis. – Boater Jesse Howard Quale of Port Edwards and co-angler Kevin Glaza of Wisconsin Rapids combined for a total of five walleyes weighing 9 pounds, 15 ounces to claim victory at the Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League tournament held Saturday on Petenwell Lake Chain near Arkdale. Quale claimed $3,360 for the win, with Glaza taking home $1,680 from the Wisconsin Division event.

The winners utilized jigs, lindy rigs and crankbaits on the north end of the lake. According to Quale and Glaza, most fish came from 5 feet of water with a rocky bottom.

Finishing second were Lynn Niklasch of Oconomowoc ($1,728) and Luke Kersten of Boyceville ($864) with five walleyes weighing 9 pounds, 6 ounces. Glenn Chenier of Gladstone, Mich. ($1,440) and Bob Barfknecht of Janesville ($720 plus $150 bonus) caught five walleyes weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces to finish third. Danny Steffens of Westfield ($1,248) and Erwin Schuette of Manitowoc ($624) claimed fourth place with five walleyes that weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces. Finishing fifth were Steve Anderson of Lovespark, Ill. ($864), and Lee Coffen of Oshkosh ($432) thanks to a five-walleye catch that weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces.

The Wisconsin Division’s next stop will be May 22 on Green Bay followed by the final regular-season event, a two-day Super Tournament, July 10-11 on Lake Winnebago. Boaters and co-anglers who finish in the top 25 in final points standings in each RCL Walleye League division will advance to the $100,000 RCL League Finals Sept. 2-4 on Bays de Noc in Escanaba, Mich. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or Yamaha-powered Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298 to second, and so on.
