GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – A.K. Boatright of Cleveland, Ala., won the Co-angler Division of EverStart Series Eastern Division competition at Guntersville Lake with 15 pounds, 6 ounces.

He had been catching fish all week in shallow grass with a frog. So when his pro partner said they would be fishing deep Saturday, Boatright got worried.

“He was fishing offshore stuff and I really had to rely on him to tell me what we were fishing and where it was,” he said. “He was great about telling me where the humps were and where to cast.”

Boatright caught his fish on a 3/4-ounce Carolina-rigged Gene Larew 11-inch Salty Snake in tequila sunrise.

Delane Harrison of Northport, Ala., finished second with 13 pounds, 8 ounces. Delane reported catching his fish on a 1/2-ounce Carolina rig with a variety of baits.

“I switched baits on the business end quite a bit,” he said. “I would rotate between a Brush Hog, a Mag II worm, and a Trick worm, all in June bug or pumpkin.”

Richard Angel of Surf City, N.C., finished third with 9 pounds, 3 ounces.

Angel caught his fish on a Zoom Brush Hog and a Dead Ringer.

“I wished I had listened to my partner earlier,” he said. “I was stubborn and kept throwing the Brush Hog and he kept telling me to switch to a Dead Ringer because he was catching fish left and right with it. Well, I finally switched to a Dead Ringer and caught my best fish.”

Charles Turner of Spring City, Tenn., finished fourth with 6 pounds, 1 ounce.

Christopher Fabrizio of Kernersville, N.C., finished fifth with 5 pounds, 7 ounces.

Rounding out the top ten are David Parks of Decatur, Ala, who finished sixth with 4 pounds, 7 ounces; Thomas Henderson of Roseland, Fla., who finished seventh with 3 pounds, 11 ounces; Phillip Terry of Trinity Al., who finished eighth with 2 pounds, 1 ounces; Timothy Little of Acworth, Ga., who finished ninth with 1 pound, 13 ounces; and Al Reed of Tequesta, Fla., who finished 10th with zero pounds.
