EverStart Series Eastern Division, June 11-14

Guntersville Lake is on a big upswing. The bass fishing is some of the best in the nation, the lake’s facilities are excellent and there should be no shortage of professional anglers when the EverStart Series holds its $239,000 event on the lake in mid-June.

EverStart Series pro Tommy Swindle of Warrior, Ala., knows the lake very well and led the tournament after day one last year. He believes a lot of large bass will be caught, with several limits of 20 pounds brought to the scales.

He points out that a lot of top-water bass are caught on Guntersville in mid-June. A Chug Bug or Pop-R in white or chrome are excellent top-water choices. Also, be sure to fish the grass and hydrilla in 6 to 8 feet of water and the deep edges of drops into the river channel. Black or blue jigs and tubes work very well on the drop-offs.

Swindle’s picks for hot locations for the tournament are North Salty and South Salty as well as the Town Creek State Park area to the Scottsboro Bridge. He says one of the great things about Guntersville is that because there are so many quality locations to fish, crowding is never a problem.
