Top 10 EverStart Series Eastern anglers start from zero at Santee Cooper

MANNING, S.C. – The top 10 pro and co-anglers pulled away from the dock this morning at the Santee Cooper EverStart event with one thing on their mind: winning. Now that the fields have been pared down to 10, they just have to catch more fish than nine other anglers in their respective divisions to claim an EverStart Series victory.

In the Pro Field, it’s anybody’s game. From Santee Cooper veterans like Lindwood Thornhill of Pineville, S.C., or Wayne Clifton of Goose Creek, S.C., to the tenacious up and comers like Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn., or Glenn Browne from Ocala, Fla., – the competition will be fierce.

Also in the top 10 is former Santee Cooper EverStart champion Ricky Shumpert of Lexington, S.C. Shumpert is always a threat to win here, especially when weights start from zero.

Anglers will have to face two adversities today: fishing pressure and weather. Just before the EverStart finalists took off this morning from John C. Land III boat launch, another local tournament of about 50 boats was already taking off.

In addition, the weatherman says thunderstorms are on the way. The wind is forecasted to blow from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph today with a 50 percent chance of storms.

Who will win it? Find out today at the Manning Wal-Mart at 4 p.m. when the top 10 finalists weigh in.
