KILLEEN, Texas – Charles Reagan of Marquez, Texas, topped 50 Pro Division competitors to win $50,000 in cash and prizes, including a new Ranger 518 DVX bass boat powered by Evinrude or Yamaha, at the 2002 Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail Championship presented by Frito Lay. The $195,000 tournament was held this weekend on Lake Belton near Killeen, Texas.

Reagan’s two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 21 pounds, 9 ounces propelled him past his fellow competitors to earn the TTT championship title. On Saturday’s opening day, he caught five bass weighing 10 pounds, 5 ounces and followed that up Sunday with five more bass weighing 11 pounds, 4 ounces to score the tournament win.

Rounding out the top five pros were Randy Qualls of Streetman, Texas (10 bass, 20 pounds, 11 ounces); Jack Morse of Oglesby, Texas (nine bass, 20 pounds, 10 ounces); David Truax of Beaumont, Texas (10 bass, 19 pounds, 13 ounces); and Harold Allen of Shelbyville, Texas (10 bass, 18 pounds, 15 ounces).

Bryan Welborn of Allen, Texas, topped 50 Co-angler Division competitors to claim $40,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ranger 195 bass boat powered by Evinrude or Yamaha and a $5,000 bonus for being a Ranger boat owner, at the 2002 Wal-Mart TTT Championship.Bryan Welborn of Allen, Texas, topped 50 Co-angler Division competitors with a six-bass catch weighing 13 pounds, 14 ounces to claim $40,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ranger 195 bass boat powered by Evinrude or Yamaha and a $5,000 bonus for being a Ranger boat owner. Welborn caught three bass Saturday weighing 9 pounds, 2 ounces and another three bass Sunday weighing 4 pounds, 12 ounces to lead the championship field.

Rounding out the top three co-anglers were Billy Williams of Gatesville, Texas, (eight bass, 13 pounds, 7 ounces) and Mike Power of Canyon Lake, Texas (six bass, 12 pounds, 15 ounces).

Championship anglers took off each morning from Temple Lake Park in Belton, Texas. These anglers earned their championship berth by scoring points in four regular-season events. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points, and the top 50 anglers in the points standings advanced to the championship.
