STOCKTON, Mo. – Roger Satterfield of Ozark, Mo., topped 104 Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League competitors Saturday on Lake Stockton with five bass weighing 11 pounds, 2 ounces. The catch earned him $3,179 and 200 points in the Boater Division.

Satterfield topped second-place boater Jay Hulsey of Bourbon, Mo., by 1 pound, 2 ounces. Hulsey finished the one-day tournament with a five-bass catch weighing 10 pounds worth $1,589.

Bill Douglas of Kansas City, Mo. (four bass, 9 pounds, 14 ounces, $954); Jackie Davis of Willard, Mo. (three bass, 9 pounds, 12 ounces, $763); and Chris Johnson of Farmington, Ark., (five bass, 9 pounds, 9 ounces, $699) rounded out the top five boaters.

Dewey Larson of Fayetteville, Ark., claimed first place in the Co-angler Division of the June 22 Wal-Mart BFL Ozark Division tournament on Lake Stockton.Dewey Larson of Fayetteville, Ark., claimed first place and $1,574 in the 103-competitor Co-angler Division with two bass weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces. He surpassed second-place co-angler Billy McCaghren Jr. of Mayflower, Ark., by an ounce. McCaghren finished with a three-bass catch weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces worth $787.

Johnny Porter of Springdale, Ark. (three bass, 5 pounds, 10 ounces, $472); Charles Taylor of Jasper, Mo. (one bass, 5 pounds, 8 ounces, $378); and Rodney Caughron of Lincoln, Neb., (two bass, 5 pounds, 1 ounce, $346) rounded out the top five co-anglers.

Overall, three five-bass limits were caught during the tournament.

The Wal-Mart BFL will visit Table Rock Sept. 21-22 for the Ozark Division season finale, a two-day Super Tournament. The boater with the most points after the season finale will be declared the Yamaha “Be the Best” Points Leader and awarded $1,000. The co-angler amassing the most points by the end of the season will receive $500.

The top 30 Ozark Division boaters and co-anglers will advance to regional competition Oct. 29-Nov. 2 on Lake Hamilton near Hot Springs, Ark., where they will go up against top competitors from the Louisiana, Okie and Gulf Coast divisions for a shot at qualifying for the Wal-Mart BFL All-American – one of the most lucrative post-season tournaments in competitive angling.

2002 BFL awards could reach $7 million based on full fields.
