Beaver Lake tourney a go

FLW Outdoors officials say the April 17-20 FLW Tour event will proceed as scheduled despite higher-than-average water levels

Yes. The water level is higher than average on Beaver Lake right now. No. The tournament has not been postponed.

That, in a nutshell, was the basic message from FLW Outdoors officials regarding the recent spate of rumors that the FLW Tour event on Beaver Lake had been cancelled.

“I’ve been in touch with the Army Corps of Engineers and everything is good to go,” said FLW tournament director Bill Taylor. “The water level is high, but the (corps) opened the gates on Wednesday and pulled at least a foot of water. Right now, the water level is actually lower than the water levels at some of the previous tournaments we’ve had here on this lake.”

Taylor said that the docks, ramps and parking lots have not been affected by the water levels either.

“Everything is fine,” said Taylor. “The weather is beautiful and we’re going to catch lots of fish.”
