Anglers head out onto Lake Okeechobee with championship on mind

CLEWISTON, Fla. – Lights, camera … action. With the start of the final day of competition of the $185,000 EverStart Series tour event now underway, amateur prognosticators, pundits and bass fishing enthusiasts can do little more than sit back, hold their collective breath and wait for the final drama to unfold. However, if the last three days have been any indication, it should be worth the wait.

With a hazy sunrise and misty morning conditions forming the backdrop to the final day of competition, 20 of the nation’s top bass anglers are expected to pour their heart and soul into the fight for the first EverStart Series Eastern Division tour event championship of 2001. Ten anglers in the Pro Division will be battling for the top prize of $15,000 and a brand new Ranger boat while their co-angler counterparts will be competing for a championship of their own worth a hefty $6,000.

Championship weigh-in will begin at 4 p.m. at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 1005 West Sugarland Highway.
